I was speaking with a Novell developer and he mentioned that OpenSUSE 10.3 went gold internally last week. The slated release date is this Thursday, 2007-10-04. For anyone who hasn't played with it it's a very nice incremental improvement. It's basically adding polish on top all the features added in 10.1 and 10.2; I'll have more info after I play with it this weekend.
He also whispered there might be support for the new iPod line. He went into detail extensively about how they add support with each new generation and how great dbus and HAL are etc. Without going into the techie detail it's more a question of avoiding Apple's lawyers then a technical issue, especially now that they've added hashing to the internal database which might just be viewed as a copyright prevention measure – meaning “breaking” it would be a violation of the DMCA. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
